the worst part is I distinctly remember thinking “thank god @MasinAD doesn’t follow me on Twitter, he’d kill me” back then (both times)

@MasinAD at least I have a bootable USB stick with Ubuntu LTS (normal Christmas holidays preparation, right?), hopefully I can boot from that to run diagnostics

@MasinAD okay, somehow the boot entry had vanished from the EFI boot order. fixed with `sudo efibootmgr --bootorder 0000,000C` (from the live Ubuntu system)

so that’s three out of three Ubuntu upgrades (beyond just package upgrades) that broke and required good Linux knowledge to fix
