The ten fictional universes on @wikidata with the most characters all have about 30% women, except for Tolkien’s legendarium and the Star Wars Expanded Universe (aka “Legends” – distinct from the current Star Wars universe), which are closer to 20%.

The Whoniverse actually is 52% women, more than half – great! Buffyverse, The Wheel of Time universe and The Hunger Games also come close to 50%.

The Narnia universe, though it doesn’t have as many characters overall, shares the Tolkien legendarium’s poor rate of women (about 20%). Sign of the times, or just sign of Oxford University (or the Inklings)?
